SJC green card interview experience
Happy new year to all.

We would like to share our experience today at the San Jose office.
Our interview was scheduled for today 01/02/2020 at 9:00am.
We got there 20 min before our Interview. We went through the security line right after we presented our interview notice and official ID to the officer at the entrance. As usual, removed metal objects and shoes, once we passed the security part we proceeded to hand our interview notice to an agent. Usually, they’ll guide you where to go and whom to speak to.
Once you are there all they ask for, is the interview notice and ID.
After that they tell you to walk to the waiting room which is on the right side of the building.
We were waiting there for about 15 min max I would say, officers will walk out of a door and call for your number, which will be given to you at checking in. We were called and were received with a smile and a good morning from officer Green. We proceeded to walk to her office. We sat down, she introduced herself and explained how the interview would go step by step.
She started by first asking for our ID’s, passport’s and the interview notice.
After that she made us take oath, we sat down and she proceeded to ask me, the petitioner to state my name, DOB, where was I born, current address, full name of my beautiful spouse. (Basically questions that were answered on the I-130 form)
Then she proceeded to ask my spouse questions that were answered on the I-485.
Now here she took her time to ask an aprox’ of 30 some questions. The yes or no questions are the ones that take most of the interviews time. Don’t be nervous, it’s easy. Apart for the yes and no questions she asked my wife.. full name, if she had used another name before, DOB, place of birth, when was the last time she entered the United States, there was never pressure from the officers side to know why we got married or what her intentions were. It was a polite and smooth interview. After all the questions, she proceeded to ask about the relationship, here you get to relax because if your relationship is real, you should know how it started and how it started to develop.
She basically said, “ok, now let’s hear your story, how was your relationship established, how did it happen, wait! Let me guess!! You guys met at school, right?”
Which just made us laugh a bit there because it was not the case xD I guess it’s what she hears most of the time. We had time to tell how we met and how our friendship started then how we both fell for each other and how our love grew for each other, after that she asked about any recent trips and after sharing about our recent trip to New York and us talking about the cold weather there, she related to our experience and shared a storyline of hers with us. We proceeded to answer easy questions about our relationship and when we got to our wedding she asked if we had any pictures, we had two picture albums, we handed both to her and she went through the weeding album first and picked a picture. Then through the second album and asked names of the people in the picture. Took 4 pictures and after that she made sure to remind me that I am going to support my wife financially and that she should not become a public charge, I said yes I am aware, she handed a document to me wife to sign. It states that we were there and we had our interview with officer Green. She then asked if we had any other documentation we might want to add to our case to back it up and we handed here all of our joint documents, AAA, COSTCO CC, BofA checking and Credit Card. Health insurance,
She then said that everything looks in order and that she would go through it and then submitted.
She handed us a document which stated we would have to wait up to 120 day for a decision, that our case was being held for further review. That was it!
It was less stressing than we thought it would be.
We have been waiting for a little over a year. We submitting our case back en November 2018
Be patient and think positively and you will attract good things to your life.
We walked out of the office and building 30 min later with a feeling of relief but we understood that it was still not over. We still had to wait for the officer to go through our file once more and make a decision, it could take up to 120 day for that to happen but we felt confident and positive. We proceeded with our day and later today, 4:45pm to be exact, I received a text message with an update on our case. It was approved.
No matter how stressful it can get, be patient and understanding that it all takes time. Help your spouse to go through questions to remember dates and events that happened in your life together.
