Hi,
I got a divorce two weeks before my interview. I already got the EAD, however after we didn’t show up for the interview and my ex-wife filed a letter to USCIS withdrawing the case and claiming differences between us. Even though she disappeared one day with all her stuff and left me with no notice or reason. USCIS sent me a decision letter that I have to leave the country in 33 days, and I’m really freaked out. I talked to a lawyer and They said I can do VAWA or get married to my now girlfriend. I have evidence that my ex-wife was abusive and cheated on me, but I don’t know what to do.
Has anyone done VAWA and what their experience? How long does it take?
My gf and I really love each other and want to get married but divorce in California takes 6 months and I’m really worried about the letter I got. Also, will ICE come to my house right away or what happens?
Please give me advice. Thank you.
