Got approved on the spot_Newark
Hi all,

I just had an interview for AOS- married based to USC from F1 today at Newark. I filed my case in Seattle (PD: 03/18/2019).

The IO was friendly. We were in the waiting room when the IO called my name. He greeted me and took us to his office. We took an oath and then he let us to sit. He asked my husband some opening questions about where he was born, where he grew up, and his works (what company) and then he asked about my job (which I dont have since I just graduated). He asked about what documents we brought. From all documents we had, here are the list of what documents he took:
1. My husband's life insurance showing me as beneficiary
2. My husband's health insurance showing me as beneficiary
3. My husband's IRA showing me as beneficiary
4. My husband as beneficiary of my IRA
5. Lease amendment
6. My husband's paychecks for the last 6 months
7. My husband's tax from 2016-2018
8. Some random photos from 2015-2018 (I brought some photo albums containing 350 photos).

We brought flight tickets copy and hotel bookings to show that we visited each other since 2015 but he didnt keep, but he looked at if. Then he returned everything that he didnt need to keep and we put our documents back to our bag. Then he started to ask question for both of us about our relationship (he used "you" without specifically pointed to each of us, meaning it can be either me or my husband to answer the questions). He asked us how we met and when. My husband answered that we met in my country in summer 2015 in educational program. He then asked how our relationship moved to the romantic relationship. I told him when we got closer and what signs he gave to me and then I also told him that my husband visited me three times in 2016 and one time in 2017 before I got accepted for a master program in Westcoast. From our story, he then got a sense that we spent many times together, stayed and "lived" together already. I told him that every school break, I visited my husband. He then asked about my current address. He then said to us, "No question anymore because I believe your marriage is legitimate". He countinued by asking me the security questions from I-485. He then said "Congratulations. Im gonna approve your case. You should get the letter showing my decision in 4 days". My husband and I smiled and we feel relieved. At 8PM, my status online changed to NEW CARD IS BEING PRODUCED. At first I didnt have any expectation to get approved on the spot seeing many people come to the office today and understand that the USCIS might have a workload and backlog. I've waited for 6 months for getting the EAD card and I thought I will wait again months and months to get my GC. But, maybe Im lucky.
