I submitted a lot of pictures(dated back to 2017)with my application back in September. I submitted Three documents with the Application (Lease, Car Insurance in both our names and Statement of Account). My husband has kids but Im only close to one of them that comes to our place often. And we used to take a lot of pics. And those pix came in handy and it eventually helped.
My husband and I were separated for the interview. We were actually prepared for this. My husband(USC) was called first. He was in there for like15-20 MIN’s if not more cos I was talking to another lady who came with her husband. That helped with my nervousness. I was called in and saw the documents(my husband went in with d docs) on d table faced down. I was sworn in. My interviewer was a man and friendly too. He started by asking me basic questions like my date of birth, my parents names, Where they are, when/how I met my husband. He asked if I had the intention to stay when I obtained my B1/B2 visa back in my country . Where we lived and if I lived anywhere else before moving in with my husband(we lived together for months before getting married in 2018). He asked what/where I worked back in Africa. He asked about my step kids and thank God I’m close to one of them pretty well cos he asked a lot of questions about the child not knowing those were the same questions he asked my husband. My husband has another and older account where his paychecks is paid. I thought that was going to be an issue but it wasn’t. He then read out the Yes/No questions from the Application. He then asked me to sign the changes he mad3 to the i485 forms( I didn’t know I would have to sign), the changes were about my step kids and d fact that I violated my bi/b2 visa. I had to remind him my husband has more than one kid. I think it was intentional on his part cos he went ahead to add the names to his form without me telling him.
Please go with any proof that will validate your union. My husband gave my a Macy’s card 2 years ago, though it’s in his name, I added it to my Macy’s account(I took it along with the receipt of purchases). I printed out the mail sent to my email account for the Macy’s payment. My name is not on our utility bill, I created an online profile with my email, I printed that out too. He took these documents to add to the ones I already sent. He didn’t look at d other documents except for my husbands paystubs(we had to use a sponsor cos he didn’t really work in 2018 cos he traveled to Our country for few months). I didn’t want to take the chance of the form been sent back so I got a friend to be co-sponsor with my husband. We did not use a lawyer but I asked for help from friends to go through before I sent the forms.

My husband and I actually got a question wrong and I was scared cos it was a major one but what help is that we gave the same timelines but just a bit different specifics.

Once again, thank you All. This forum really helped me prepare for my interview.
