Adjustment of Status - I-485

Hi All,

I have been reading this forum for a while and it was really of a great help. I am kind of in a weird situation and thought of really seeking your help over this. Any feedback/suggestion would be of great help.

little background:
- came to US on F1 in 2009
- got arrested in 2011 for hiring someone for money
        > was on probation for a year and case was closed.
        > had my H1 B renewed multiple times and changed jobs few times without any issues

- got married to us citizen in 2018
- filled in 2019 june for adjustment of status
- got my ead and AP (combo card in 2020 Jan)
- Current status: Waiting for the interview to be scheduled.

Question - It's been almost 8 years I haven't been to my country. thinking to travel on the combo card using the AP but my lawyer says not worth taking chances and suggested to wait till my interview is completed.

wanted to see/share my experience to see if anyone/friends have gone through this situation .

Really looking for some feedback/help/suggestions on my travel instead of some negative shit. I already paid 8yrs of my life being away from family for the mistakes made in the past. looking for some constructive feedback please if you can.
