Interview
Walked in- singed in - took picture and biometric and then were seated for 30mins.
We were called in by Name and greeted with smile by nice officer. Walked into his office. Swore in and then immediately started asking date of birth, marriage date, yes and no questions. Couple of them were wrong I had to correct it. Then he asked how we met! If our marriage was civil or religious, If we were ever arrested, if I worked illegally or if I stayed illegally. I said no but he said you overstayed your visa as I was B1/B2 and I explained we applied before the visa expiry date and during the AOS process its Stays still until the case is completed. Officer replied it doesn’t matter anyways as you are married to USC.
Then he asked me to wait outside and wanted to speak to my wife for 15 mins.
I was called in after exactly 15min and asked about our house if it is condo or apartment or Family house, etc and asked who lives above our house and I gave correct answer. Then he asked about how many bedrooms and about the bedroom. How many fans if any, how many lights Air-condition, windows, door, if wardrobe are there, are they moveable? Which side is bed, who sleeps where. I answered all correctly while the office drew the sketch of our bedroom. He asked about the floor, rugs if any? I answered all correct. Expect I missed one hidden lamp for which my wife already informed I might not be aware of it as she never used it.
Finally he asked “ why do you think someone would send a mail to USCIS saying our marriage is sham!! And then he I am not saying some sent it if someone sent? Since you’ve never worked here you don’t have any enemies. Why do you think if they will send a mail. I said I am sure no one will ever do that! Our marriage is true and you will find us together after 10yrs and many years. We are close to both our parents. And finally he asked about my previous marriage type of marriage and divorce paper. I explained him I already responded to the RFE gave the true copy of notarized divorce paper.
The officer never asked for any joint documents or pics. However we had all ready.
At the end he said everything looks fine and he will review and contact if anything is required in a week. If you don’t hear me in a week then it’s all good and you receive your green card in 3 weeks and handed us a white sheet. Which states “ Your case is being held for review. At this time, USCIS does not require any further information or documents from you. Should further information or documents be required, you will receive a notice in the mail. We may also schedule you for another interview, you will receive a notice in the mail. Otherwise, a final decision will be mailed once your case is complete”
This morning we received text from USCIS stating both our cases I-130 & I-485 have been approved! Thank you God 🙏
Piece of advice.
Being nervous is normal! Be truthful and relax. Always speak the truth so that you don’t have to remember what you said.
