I-485 Interview Cancelled/Transferred
Hi All,

I was scheduled for interview on 03/04/2020 in Los Angeles County Field Office.
I do not reside in California anymore as my husband and I recently moved to Colorado.
Anyway, we still flew to California to attend the interview. My appointment was at 10:30AM.
At around 11:15AM, the IO called for my name and advised that he cannot conduct my interview today because he has not received my I-130 file yet (I did not file concurrently). He gave me a letter where it says in there that there was a new processing procedure effective June 30, 1997 that require that my permanent immigrant file be available at the time of my scheduled interview. The IO said that he requested my file but did not reach the office in time for my interview. The IO kept apologizing that they did not notify me that they cannot conduct the interview. He said as soon as he receives the file, I will be rescheduled immediately. I mentioned to him that prior to receiving the interview letter, I already made a change of address and received mail confirmation from USCIS that my records have been updated. He acknowledged it and advised that my files may have been/will be transferred to Colorado. We thanked the IO and left.

We were not really upset because we were kind of expecting that there's a chance we may not be interviewed due to our change of address. We were just not expecting that it is because my Field Office did not have all my files. Anyway, I am in no rush in getting the GC. I am just happy I have my EAD and SSN at the moment. If I have to wait for another 6 months to 1 year, so be it (but hopefully not).

I also just want to add that while we were in line for the security checkpoint, one of the security was talking to this lawyer who was in line. He said that USCIS is planning to implement a strategy where they make one week very busy and the following week a little slow. So they will be alternating their weeks as busy-slow-busy-slow, etc.

I will keep you guys updated when I get my new interview schedule. God bless all of us!
