This is my journey so far. It's been a total of 203 days. Waiting for the interview to be scheduled but not sure when that will resume amidst the Covid-19 pandemic closures.

9/3/19: PD
10/2/19: Bio
10/21/19: RFIE on I-485[Asked for additional evidence on I-864 joint-sponsor documents]
11/13/19: RFIE response received by USCIS
01/15/20: Raised SR on I-485 on the phone with tier 1 officer
02/14/20: case updated to Expedite request on I-131 received [Filed on phone with tier 2 officer based
on the financial loss of $31,000 spent on a family event in May.]
02/21/20: Expedite mail response received [Didn't deny or approve. Just basically said there wasn't
enough evidence and USCIS is expediting cases only with extreme emergent need.
Called tier 2 officer for advice. She told me to send evidence with detailed cover letter to the
address listed on mail response which in this case was Lee's Summit, MO - NBC]
02/22/20: Evidence mailed through USPS Priority
02/24/20: USPS tracking notified evidence documents were delivered. No case update from USCIS end
02/27/20: I-485 case updated to 'Case ready to be scheduled for Interview'
03/12/20: Contacted USCIS Ombudsman through online form about not receiving any update about the
expedite evidence sent. I included PDF copies of all the evidence I had previously mailed to
NBC including the cover letter and requested the Ombudsman to look into the cases.
03/20/20: Received email response from ombudsman office that they have reached out to USCIS
regarding my cases and will revert back when they have more information.
03/23/20: I-765 EAD case updated to 'New card is being produced'
03/24/20: Both I-765 & I-131 cases updated to 'Case was approved'

It was a long wait! After receiving the RFIE and sending the evidence requested, we stopped asking our lawyer for any help as we felt he wasn't up to the standard as promised and wasn't communicating properly. Could have easily avoided RFIE if he was diligent and on top of things. I truly believe the cases moved because I pushed with the expedite request and reached out to the ombudsman. If you have a legitimate cause or have been waiting too long (6 or more months), please feel free to reach out to available resources via USCIS. My next step was to contact the congressman if there was further delay but thankfully I didn't have to.

Now I'm really hoping the pandemic subsides in the coming month if we all stay home and implement social distancing so that life can resume to normal as soon as possible! Hoping interviews roll in by mid to late April. This forum was a source of clarity and relief amongst all the anxiety and uncertainty.

Good luck to all of you! Stay home!
