EAD but no SSN

My EAD was approved on 3/16 and I received the card in the mail on 3/23.
But I am still waiting for me SSN - I've tried ringing the SSA but they couldn't find me on my system yet and said it can take up to 30 days for USCIC to pass on the information.
So frustrating ... I'd been waiting for my EAD approval since Sept 2019 and have a job waiting for me. I've been able to start work, which is amazing given the current circumstances, but my work said they can't process me through their payroll system without a SSN.
Any tips on what to do next?
