Applied I-485 based on approved I-140 (EB2-NIW, ROW). Self-petitioner based on advanced degree and research.
USCIS NBC office received application (I-485,I-765, and I-131) :- November 27, 2019
Fingerprints (for I-485, I-765) :- December 23,2019
Fingerprints were updated for I-131 :- March 5, 2020
Field office : Brooklyn , NY
And since then no update.
Didn’t submit medical report with original application based on lawyer’s suggestion.
I'm on STEM OPT. Working in one of the prestigious private universities as a faculty in New York city. Since there engineering school is not e-verified, so they hired me through a staffing agency as temporary worker.
The university renewed my position for the next academic year but told me that I need my unrestricted EAD card, because they need to pay a lot to that staffing agency for me. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, the university now has hiring and renewal freeze. So, they cancelled my position. I just lost this job because of this EAD card. Otherwise, they could have given me the offer letter in February. Will be out of work after May (as Spring semester is ending in May).
Life is so stressful for international students like me. My current STEM OPT is valid till August 2020. Now almost everywhere has hiring freeze. Don’t know when this EAD will be approved. Tired of it ☹
