My mother was interviewed at Bombay consulate today and was granted visitor visa. Following are the questions to which she gave appropriate answers.
1. Why you want to visit US
2. What does your son do
3. How long you plan to stay
4. Do you have any other children/are they married
5. Where do you stay in India?

That was it! Since this site has been helpful I will leave with few (oft-repeated) tips to other parents/sponsoring children who might read this post.
1. Be prepared, read this forum, know the questions. Know your application, even if someone else helped you prepare it.
2. on your application ask for language which you are comfortable in speaking. If for some reason the VO still starts off in English (or translator in hindi) interrupt and ask for your mother-tongue.
3. Be confident in your answers and be precise, they only need to know YOU HAVE ENOUGH TIES TO HOME COUNTRY AND YOU HAVE NO REASON TO RUN OFF TO US, if convinced your interview should be easy
