Our experience at Newark was great. There were three steps in the process.

Citizenship Interview
Certificate Verification and Surrendering of your Green Card
Oath Ceremony

Citizenship Interview - We handed over our appointment letter at counter and it was assigned to an USCIS Officer. The office took me inside and asked me to show my passport and the green card. He asked me to show my old passport where my I-551 permanent residence visa was stamped. He asked me some simple US history questions.
How many stripes are there in the US flag?
What does the strip mean?
What do we celebrate on July 4 the?
How many house of representatives are there in the congress?
How often do we elect the house of representatives?
Who are our enemies in the second world war?
What is the constitution?
Who is the chief executive of our state?
Name one right guaranteed by the constitution and bill of rights
what holiday was celebrated for the first time by American Colonists?
Note : I hope you received the US Citizenship civic and history questions book and a CD at the time of finger print. You may find 96 questions. They will ask questions only from that questions. You may find it in the USCIS web site also.

He also asked me some standard questions like

Do you owe any money you IRS? Do you pay taxes on time?
Were you ever arrested?
Do you accept our constitution? Etc...
He asked me to write a simple sentence "Today is a cold day"

Then he told me that he is going to give me Citizenship and Congratulated me.

2. Certificate Verification and Surrendering of your Green Card

They printed the US Citizenship certificate and asked us to verify our name and sign in the original and the copy. They took our green card.

3. Oath Ceremony

We took the oath and the pledge of Allegiance .They played a video with President's message. Finally the USCIS supervisors distributed the Citizenship. They also distributed the passport application forms.

The whole process went smoothly and it took half a day for us.

I hope I have given you some insight into the US Citizenship Interview process. I hope this helps.

I wish you all the best.

Cheers !
