US Citizenship Interview With a Misdeaminor Petty Theft
This is an update from my last post. I see a lot of posters here never update. So I am based on few emails I've gotten. U can see my last post too.

In 2007 I was arrested and convicted of petty theft (am sorry) Never again. Since I had to wait 3yrs (if married to a US citizen) before I can apply for Citizenship. Got my GC, June 2004.

Aug 17 2011: Application N-400 received

Aug 17 2011 biometrics Appointment sent.

Sept 12 2011: Went for Biometrics, No cell phone allowed, Done in Less than 20mins.

Oct 7 2011: Received Letter of Interview in the mail.

Before my interview. Spoke to my lawyer. He advice me to get few letters of recommendations from churches. I do not go to church or Mosque. So I got from my Boss at work. Some from other American I've known. He also adviced me to write a written statement about the crime and apologize for my shameful act which I did. I wrote a statement regretting my actions and taking full responsibility. (They won't ask for this. So I had to tell them I'll love to include that with my application) Luckily I had my conviction expunged 2mos earlier. So the expungement was granted just before my interview.

Nov 19 2011: Interview day, got there @ 6:00am long line outside. Was in by 8:15. 9:15 I was called in by the Officer had my interview. A female officer. Asked me few questions. She didn't even ask for all the documentations I was asked to bring. I passed the Civics and English test. She only asked if I had other criminal history. I said NO. She said because the court papers did not show that I paid the court fines after my conviction, I'll have to provide that. So she gave me 30days to send that in. She said its takes 120days to reach a decision. But a denial comes within 30days. If its more than 30days after interview I should almost expect an approval. (My lawyer also said it. A denial comes sooner than an approval) interview took 15min or less.

Dec 12 2011: I sent in the proof of payment of the court fine. So the wait began. I hoped for the best. Expected the worst.

Jan 23 2012: Got an email Alert that my application has been put in line to be scheduled for an Oath. Yayyyyyy this was one of my happiest day.......

Jan 30 2012: Got my Oath Letter for Feb 22.

Feb 22 2012: Attended Oath. Became Naturalized.

EMAIL ME IF You have any question. Wish everyone goodluck. And pls stay away from crimes. Especially if u still a GC holder.
