Upgrading from LPR to Spouse of US Citizen
Hi, I found very few posts on this topic and hence decided to post my experience.

Background: My husband was an LPR when I applied for I-130 and the I-130 was approved. The priority date in the F2A category was not current so I had to wait to apply for adjustment of status.

My husband became a citizen in Jan2013. these are the steps we followed.

1) Got together all documnets for Adjustment of status I-485, I-131, I-765, I-864, G-325A, Medical Form I-693.
2) Supporting documents
3) Copy of naturalization certificate

We filed through a lawyer and they sent out the package on Feb 15th to the USCIS Chicago lockbox and it was received on Feb19th 2013.

I received 2 NOA's on 27 Feb2013 saying that the application has been fwded to the National Benefits Center.

Earlier in 2012 we received an email from NVC asking us to pay some fees, do not pay this if you intend to adjust status in the united states. I think this only applies if you are going for consular processing.

Before we mailed the Adjustment of Status package we also sent an email to NVC saying that my husband is US citizen now and I intend to apply for AOS and to please fwd the application to USCIS. you will need to include a copy of the naturalization cert in the email.
We received a response after 2 weeks from NVC that they are reviewing our email and will hold the petition till USCIS requests it.
I dont think this delays your AOS as theystart processing your case. I would also suggest inclusing a cover letter with the AOS package stating that you're changing from spouse of LPR to immediate relative.
Will post updates as my case progresses.
