OCI and Entry visa (sorry state of affairs)
I sent my application for the renewal of my OCI through BLS on March 4, 2014. After several queries, finally my application was sent to Indian Embassy in Washington DC who in turn sent it to Delhi. The Date of Acknowledgement is 22 April, 2014 and Document Printing Status as of today is UNDER-PROCESS. I had to renew it as my age has crossed 50.

As like everybody else, I too have already purchased my nonrefundable ticket and have made all my plans. The departure date is 23 July 2014 which cannot be changed without hefty penalty.
After reading all the personal experience of so many people on this forum and elsewhere on the internet, I am kind of worried and nervous. I may not get the OCI in time for my upcoming trip.

So in order to save myself from further stress, I decided to apply for Tourist/Entry visa. By the way, it seems people of Indian origin can apply only for Entry visa. While completing the application for Entry visa, I came across a question in the form where I have to fill the last visa number and type issued to me. Obviously it is the u-visa which was affixed when I was issued the OCI last time. However, in the drop down menu I do not see the OCI visa type. I do not know what to do. Do I have to then write the previous visa and its type which I was issued before I took acquiring OCI? Any suggestions in this direction will be appreciated.

The second issue I am facing while completing the Entry visa application is about the renunciation. I acquired the Canadian citizenship way back in 2001. Indian High commission in Ottawa cancelled the Indian passport by stamping a seal which reads “Cancelled on account of holder acquiring Canadian citizenship” when I went there to get a visa on the Canadian Passport. For all these years, the cancelled Indian passport has served well as a proof of renunciation of Indian citizenship. But now, CKGS write on its website that any person of Indian origin who wishes to apply for a Tourist /Entry visa will have to submit the renunciation certificate (which I do not have and I cannot get one as it takes time) along with the application.

So I guess, my second question is: Can I still submit the cancelled Indian passport with the stamp “ Cancelled on account of holder acquiring Canadian citizenship” in lieu of renunciation certificate. On Indian Consulate of Chicago website I do see a statement which says that if someone has a cancelled Indian passport which has the seal that passport is cancelled because the holder of the passport has acquired citizenship of another country then he does not need a renunciation certificate. However, I did not see the similar statement on Washington DC website.
I know the story is long but any light on these questions will be appreciated from experienced persons.
