Visitor Visa Granted to my Parent at Kolkata Consulate (at 2nd attempt after 214B rejection)
Hi Everyone,

First of all thank you very much to immihelp which helped me towards proper and systematic direction.

I am currently in US in L1-B visa and sponsoring my parent. My Parents (Father in currently Not employed, previously doing business, Mother-Housewife) visitor Visa was granted on July 30, 2014 at Kolkata Consulate at 2nd attempt. They applied before (Sept, 2013) at Kolkata Consulate and were rejected under 214B. I wanted to share the experience.

Interview was scheduled in Bengali (9:30 am) and VO was a Young Man.
Interview Length: 2-3 min
Language Opted: Bengali (they did not asked for any interpreter this time and my parents answered in English

Father: Good Morning
VO: Good morning. Asked for the passports

Father: Give 2 passports to him
VO: Why do you want to go to USA?

Father: To meet my son and for Tourism Purpose
VO: Where will you stay during your stay?

Father: We will stay at our son’s apartment at City, State
VO: What is your Son doing (to my mother)?

Mother: My son is working in YYYY Company as a YYYY position
VO: Did your son studied in US mam?

Mother: No, he studied in India
VO: Do you have any other child? (Looking at my father)

Father: Yes sir, we have 1 daughter
VO: What she is doing?

Father: she is studding in India
VO: Please give me your son’s Passport (asked my father)
Father: Father initially took out my DL but my mother look out my passport and handed over VO (they don’t returned back)

VO: How many days you plan to stay over there
Father: 3 months

VO: Smiled and shake hand with my father (don’t say anything) and don’t return passport
My parent thought they were approved. But actually, both the cases went to ‘Administrative processing’ and after 3 working days status updated as ‘Visa Issued ‘

Last time my parents were in casual dress and was bit nervous. This time my parents dressed well, confident and have some practice of regular interview questions. Give all the answers confidently and honestly.

Hope this may help someone similar to my case
Have a wonderful day…
