My background:
I came to the U.S. in 2008 under F1 visa. After 4 years of studying I earned a Bachelor's degree in 05/2012. Then I moved to a different state to work under my OPT and also I met my wife who is a U.S. citizen born and raised in the U.S. I applied for business school in 05/2013 and got accepted. My OPT expired in 07/2013. 08/2013 I started going to business school to maintain legal status.

My timeline:
10/2013: My parents flew over from my home country to attend my wedding
11/07/13: Got married at a local church with presence of our friends and family members. Lots of photos were taken.
06/01/14: I-485 and I-765 sent to USCIS.
06/04/14: Application received by USCIS and forwarded to National Benefit Center.
06/13/14: Biometrics notice received. Set for 07/05/14
07/05/14: Biometrics done. Easy and quick.
07/15/14: I-485 status went from "Initial review" to "Testing and interview" while I-765 was still "Initial review".
07/23/14: Received EAD in the mailbox.
01/01/15: Interview notice received. Set for 02/08/15.
02/08/15: Interview day. We both dressed nicely and professional to make good impression with the officer. At exact 8:30 AM a male officer came out and called my last name then he led us to his office for the interview. He started by asking a bunch of easy questions such as he asked us to verify our names, date of birth, place of birth, what we do for the living, then he asks about our parents' names and their jobs. It was impossible for us to get these questions wrong. Then he asked for proofs and we showed him about 100 photos include our photos before and after the wedding with friends and families. Then we also showed him our joint assets including car insurance, car title, joint bank account, receipts we transferred money to each other, memberships, tax return, etc. Then he kept these documents and said that he would need to further review our case. He walked us out and said good bye. The interview went for about 20 minutes. It was very relaxing and easy. I guess because they already checked our case before the interview.
03/12/15: Got update from USCIS that they have registered my permanent status and card was in production and will be mailed to my address.

It took 9 months to complete the whole process. If your receipt number starts with MSC then prepare to wait. Take it easy and prepare well for the interview. If your marriage is truly based on love then you have nothing to worry. Good luck!
