Interview Experience
Submitted: Mid February
Receipt: A week later
Fingerprints: Mid April
Interview: May 5th
Location: Cleveland, OH

I was scheduled for the interview at 9:40 am. Trying to avoid any traffic jams, parking problems etc., I left home around 8. Luckily, there were no issues with traffic or parking- I got in around 8:30 and I was at the security checkpoint by 8:35. I checked in around 8:40. There were 2 people ahead of me. I figured I would go right after those 2 people. 7 more people came after me and they went ahead of me. My turn finally came. The interviewer was extremely nice, she was all smiley faced and made me feel very comfortable right off the bat.

Went to her office, closed the door behind me. There was a handy cam on the back table which was attached to a tripod. She made me take an oath before the interview started.

She started with the questions that were on my application.
Name, family names, address, DOB.
Then there was a series of Yes and No questions. The first part of the questionnaire was pretty much answered as No. I made sure that I did not rush to answer any questions and I let her finish before I answered all questions, even though there were Yes or No questions.

Now, time for the Civics test, for which I was a bit nervous, even though I knew all the questions like the back of my head. With my adrenaline pumping, I did not want to mishear a question and answer incorrectly. All of the questions were pretty simple. I answered them 6 out of 6.
1. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
2. Who is in charge of the executive branch?
3. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
4. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.
5. What is one reason colonists came to America?
6. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
The questions were not asked in the exact order.
After the civics test, there was a reading and writing test.
She asked me to read “What state has the most people?”
Then she asked me to write on a piece of paper “California has the most people”.
That was the end of all the tests.

She asked me if I wanted to change my Legal Name, I said yes. So she printed another paper and asked me to write the name and sign it. I signed it and that was it.
She told me, a letter will be sent out in 2-3 weeks that will have my oath date and location. I should just bring that over along with my green card.
It took a total of 10-15 minutes. I am finally relieved.
