After waiting for over 5 months, i have become US resident :)
I (F1 student) and my wife (US citizen) just had an interview in May 6th, 2015 at 2:15pm in downtown San Dego, CA.
- First, it's my timeline
11/28/14: Sent documents to USCIS Chicago
12/02/14: USCIS received
01/05/15: biometric
02/21/15: EAD in hand
04/01/15: Interview notice
05/06/15: Interview day
05/07/15: On May 7, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC **** **** **, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, ............................
- Second, Our interview didn't look like an interview what i used to think before. It was just a conversation between 24-year-old couple and fifty-year-old IO, who was so kind, nice and "easy" man. Here are some questions that he asked us:
1/ Can you show me your IDs? ( My wife had it but i didn't have it, though i had applied it for 8 months ago)
I showed my Driver License temporary as well as my Work permit, but what he need was the card with my photo on it. So, he asked if i had IDs at school. Unlucky, i didn't have it either. Finally, i just gave him my I-20 which proved I was still a student.
2/ He checked so quickly my information (name, date of birth, address, and Yes/No question)
3/ Asked to see our marriage certificate, my wife's citizen license
4/ How, when, where did you guys meet?
5/ How did you guys communicate after that?
6/ Are you guys living like a couple or with other people? If with others, who are they? what do they do?
7/ He wondered if my wife has met my parents?
8/ What does my parent do right now?
9/ Where was the ceremony's place?
10/ He did ask to be seen my photo album, took 3 pictures out and we had a funny talk about my wife's car ( he said it looked like a Bug and drew it on paper)
11/ Asked if we had some joint documents (health, car, life insurance) except some document we had submitted him before (bank account, property certificate, agreement contract). We just gave him our car insurance's paper and explained why we didn't our health insurance at the same company.
After all, he explained about the remove of 2 year green card and we signed in the 216 section paper. " My computer has some problems right now, so i can't update your result today. I will do it tomorrow or the next following day. You guys will be given the green card within 10-14 days"- he told that.
And finally, We were done! He asked if we had some thing to speak out. We just requested him where he was from. He was from Philippines. From yesterday until now on, i will love Philippines so much
