Hi All,
This is my first posting on this website.
Yesterday on Friday September 18th, my wife's status changed from "We have received your fee for AOS ..." to "Welcome Notice was mailed".
Yes, it has been a long wait with no status update on the USCIS.GOV website for our Receipt Number since the beginning. Interview would have been preferred as those people are approved MUCH FASTER!!!
My wife is from Colombia. Here is a quick list of the dates since she arrived in the Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
08/30/2014 - Arrived in Chicago on Fiancee Visa. Picked her up there instead of making the transfer on smaller jet to Minneapolis.
11/07/2014 - Married in Las Vegas. No, not by Elvis.
12/05/2014 - Mailed in I-485 and I-765.
12/11/2014 - Received original fee status that never changed until 9/18/2015.
01/09/2015 - Biometric appointment in St Paul, Minnesota.
01/28/2015 - Received EAD card. Should have done a combo card so she could visit Mexico as her mother was diagnosed with breath cancer. In school for the spring semester, but she was planning to visit Colombia during the summer.
2/25/2015 - Dated but received it the 1st week of March. Potential Interview waiver letter.
Beginning of May, 20015 - We filed for document for her to travel to Colombia. Approved in about 3 - 4 weeks.
06/16/2015 - She travelled to Colombia.
07/03/2015 - I travelled to Colombia to join her.
07/08/2015 - We arrived back in Minneapolis.
07/29/2015 - Received U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services letter about sending an updated I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record within 30 days. Would not have needed this if it did not take so long. Another $309.
Did that with approved civil surgeon and mailed sealed letter to the New York office.
That sealed letter arrived in New York on August 19,2015.
09/18/2015 - Checked
WWW.USCIS.GOV website. Status had changed, FINALLY.
"Welcome Notice Was Mailed".
I have been reading that it should be about 2 weeks later that the permanent resident card would arrive. Their update actually said you should receive it by 11/17/2015 (2 months later). Besides the time needed to register your permanent resident status, there was mention of ADIT processing. In all my readings, I did not come across the acronym ADIT. ADIT stand for Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System. It means that USCIS is calling you in for a brief walk-in visit in order to collect information, photos, and fingerprints that it needs in order to create your actual green card.
That should not be needed in our case since all that should have been done at the biometrics appointment.
I think my wife will have her permanent resident card by the end of the first week of October, 2015.
Good Luck!!!
