SS EXPERIENCE & TIMELINE UPDATE
Hi guys, here's my time line so far (My local office is Pittsburgh, PA):

8/12 - package delivered to UCIS (CHICAGO)
8/17 - Text/Email confirmations from USCIS
8/21 - Conformation letters by mail (priority date 8/12/15)
8/28 - Biometric appointment letter for 9/8
9/1 - Biometrics done in less than 10 minutes (walked-in)
10/19 - Text/email with AP/EAD approval and card production (app. on 10/16 actually)
10/21 - Text/Email EAD/AP mailed
10/23 - EAD/AP combo card in the mail

I went to the SS office that same day in my excitement, the excitement was quickly turned to disappointment. I did not take my original marriage license along, because I didn't read where it was a requirement, so I had to go back home for it. The lady said it is because I changed my name to my husband's and they had to send to the DHS to verify that the info is true. I've been on this forum for a while, and never came across such an experience.

The lady who I went to the second time, didn't know how to process a new SS number application, so she had to summon another lady. The both struggled through to get the application completed. She gave me a receipt and said it could take as long as 4 weeks because they have to wait for Homeland Security to run checks etc. I couldn't believe my ears.

The thing is I applied for a bus load of jobs (which I got, just to choose now), but I can't start training at one because of my inability to produce a SSN!! It hasn't even been a week yet. I have a long way to go if it is indeed 4 weeks! Sigh.

Has this happened to any of you guys?
