NY(Long Island, Holtsville) Interview Experience
Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was our interview in Long Island, Holtsville office. We have waited 8+ months for this day. The interview was scheduled at 8.00 am, and they called us inside by 8:30. The whole interview lasted for 10-12 minutes. The IO was very straight to the point, but she had a poker face on the whole time. First she asked for my husband’s passport and my ID. Then she asked my husband when he last entered the country. After that all the questions were towards me, which was very surprising and strange to us.

She asked me how we met. When did we get married? Where did we get married? What is my husband’s birthday? Who lives with us in our house? Did we go for our honeymoon? Where do I work? Where does my husband work?

After that she asked to see our pictures, and wanted our joint documents. So we handed over our bank statement, credit card statement, and lease. She took a while and examined our bank statement thoroughly. Then she asked for 2 pictures from our album for their record.

After that she printed a paper which said the case is under review, and she told us we will do a background check again. Once that is done you will get a decision by mail in 30 days. We got really worried, because so far I did not read anything like this that they does a background check after the interview too.

After the interview finished we were in the parking lot and checked the status online and it said “New Card Is Being Produced. On November 3, 2015, we ordered your new card”. It took only 5 minutes after the interview for the status to change.

It was definitely a very stressful waiting game. We have waited 8+ months, which was still better than many other NY fillers. My advice for those who are waiting for the interview is to be patient, it will happen sooner or later. Keep collecting everything joint, even if you don’t need it. It will definitely give you the confidence for the interview. And I will also say during the interview don’t stress, be confident, dress business casual, and be friendly.

Lastly thank you to those who I was interacting with, especially Aleksandra, Wen, and Mrkrabbs. I have learned a ton from you guys. I wish the best of luck to Aleksandra and Wen for your upcoming interview as well. And good luck to everyone.
