F1 to H1b @ New Delhi Consulate
OFC appointment - Dec 10th 2015
Visa Interview - Dec 11th 2015

Day 1 - OFC appointment (Operated by all Indian Nationals)

Located at International Trade Tower, to be specific just enter right below THAI airways
sign next to Citi Bank

It wasn't crowded. My passport and appointment details were verified and then I was allowed
to enter the building. I stood in a short queue where my details were verified again and I
believe they applied a sticker to the back of my passport. I asked for a token from a
security personnel and sat in waiting area for my turn.

My turn, I was called to a window similar to actual consulate interview window, where I was
asked for documents (passport, DS-160 confirmation, Visa appointment confirmation). While
he was verifying details, I was asked to read through a document taped on the shelf. I was
then asked yes/no questions

1. Are you ... ?? (confirmed my name)

2. You are going for h1b?

I was asked to stand and do the fingerprint process.

Day 2 - Visa Interview

I had an early morning appointment reached consulate just in time to be able to stand in
queue for interview. For an early morning appointment, the queue was fairly long. My passport
and I-797 were stapled and I was given a US rights pamphlet and was allowed to enter building 1
for security check. Upon exit was asked to wait until main building had enough room for us.

Entered main interview building, an Indian national collected passports for about 10 folks
in the queue and handed over to someone on fingerprint counter, verified fingerprints and
asked me to join the interview line.

Ready for visa interview, person ahead of me got his visa approved. Visa officer is a white
female in her late 50's or older.

VO: Good Morning, how are you?
me: Good Morning, i'm good thanks.

VO: Looking at I-797, Oh you work for ABC employer?
me: Yes, I do

VO: Is this an internal position?
me: Yes, it is.

VO: Were you working on OPT before?
me: Yes, I was working on OPT prior to my current status with the same employer

VO: Is this an internal position?
me: Yes, it is.

VO: Have you received this rights pamphlet (held it in her hand)
me: Yes I did, (showed mine since I had it handy)

VO: Your visa has been approved, you'll receive it in couple of days
me: Thank you, Have a good day.

I wasn't nervous this time since I had previously interviewed for student visa. I hold a
master's degree from US. This was my first H1b visa stamping. With that being said, this
forum still helps get insight and I thank you for all those who shared. I hope mine helps
you all. Good luck.

My status is still administrative processing, I am not worried it usually takes 3-5 business days.
