H4 to H1 Interview Experience - Kolkata Consulate
I was not asked a lot of questions and it was generally in the form of conversation. As far as I remember, these were the questions I was asked

1. What are you working as?
2. Can you please describe what the title entail or describe what a person in your position does?
3. Which clients are you working for / who else you will be working for in the future?
4. Where will you be working? City/State
5. Where are you staying presently? (Please note that I am staying at a different city and will be moving for work and I mentioned it clearly)

All the visas on my passport were checked and my F1 visa was cancelled as I am no longer studying. I went to US to study and completed my OPT and came back. I was married last year and moved back to US. We had discussion about the universities in US in general and how I liked it there. What are the courses I took. I told about the courses I remembered and the ones that were linked to my job title. Then the visa officer said my visa is approved and wished me well. I said thank you and left the counter. I am still waiting for my passport.

And as everyone in this forum has said, the key to the interview is confidence. Don't make up stories as I saw a lot of people fumble and make up answers. Remember the visa officer is there to issue a visa and help us in the process. Let them ask the questions and answer to the best of your knowledge. You don't have to blurt out your answers as soon as they ask something. Always remain calm and composed. Being a professional, that is the minimum they would expect of any technical or non-technical person.

This forum has been really helpful and I would be really glad if I can offer help to anyone. The company I will be working with is a very small company and new on the block. I got a RFE for my H1 and it was cleared once the company submitted all the requested documents. H1 is both about the employer and the employee . I would say research your employer well and have your facts straight. If a person is moving to a different country for work, the least they expect from the person is to research the place of work and city of stay.

All the best to everyone.
