Time Line Of My Experience
This forum has helped me a lot through my process so I would like to give back by sharing my own experience. I’m a Saudi born Indian. As per my info, USCIS queues applicants according to the birthplace, so people who are Saudi born can relate to my case. Few things I would like to point out, Firstly, you don’t NEED a lawyer for this case. I found it very unnecessary to hire a lawyer for my case. I only got help from the lawyer to proof read my forms and supporting documents right before I mailed them, lawyer charged me $100. Secondly, my wife doesn’t have a birth certificate, instead we used her citizen born abroad certificate and had no issues.
11-27-15: Mailed Documents (i-485, i-130, i-765) to Chicago Lockbox.
12-04-15: Got Received Receipts.
12-07-15: Received Notice of Biometrics Appointment.
12-31-15: Biometrics (Finger Prints) Done.
02-10-16: Called USCIS to check status and was told it will take about 6-8 months according to the queue. (Very Sad)
02-19-16: Received Notice of i-765 (work permit) Approval.
02-20-16: Got my Work Permit.
02-21-16: Received Notice of Interview appointment.
03-28-16: Interview done. (10min interview, Approved, No stamp in passport)
04-01-16: Received Notice of i-485 approval.
04-02-16: Got my Green Card.
Total time: 4 months and 6 days (from the day I mailed out the documents)
