I had my interview today in Detroit. We got there around 1:50pm, the interview was scheduled to 2:25pm. Around 2:40pm a female IO called us in. She was in a great mood and was really nice. That didn't even look like an interview. She told us as soon as we walked in that wasnt going to be a traumatic experiene. She asked for ID, swore us, and told us to take a seat. She went directly to my husbands I-130, asked his full name, DOB, place of birth, address, and the date we got married. Then she joked and said " she's waiting to see if you know that one". She was telling us how she hates that now there are so many pages on the forms, she said before they only had 2 pages. Then she moved to my I-485 and asked full name, DOB, what country I'm from, address (which she said "oh you don't have to say, it's the same"), my parents first name, which visa I used to come here, and if I worked. She then asked all the yes/no questions. Then she said she was approving us and by then I had my binder and photo album still on my laps. And she asked if I wanted to add something to my file. I told her I had lots of photos and she enjoyed looking thru that, made comments about our pics, and told us a story about a guy who had pics with another girl and the wife didn't know. I showed her our joint tax returns, she said she didn't need to keep that. And then I gave her copy of health insurance cards, car insurance, gym membership, and one credit card statement. She said she didn't really need anything, since she put notes there. But I gave her anyway. I even asked if she wanted to see my visa on expired passport, original birth certificates, marriage certificate, and she said I was all set. Then she explained about conditional green card, she said she didn't have a letter on her desk and she wasn't going to bother someone else to get her copies lol I thought was best not to make a deal about it since she was nice and had approved us already. She said I should get my green card in 1-2 weeks. Then she said I told you guys it wasn't going to be traumatic, you're good to go, and walked us out. That was nothing like I was expecting, I took a huge photo album, and a binder full of evidences and I didn't even use it. I can only think that the fact that I sent out with my package around 35 photos of us helped. I saw a couple that was interviewed separately, they got approved tho.
Thank God we were interviewed by such a nice IO and approved on the spot! This forum was really helpful! I wish you all the best!
