I'm renewing the OCI for my son, so sent the document back in Feb 2016 as per their check list. I got an email saying I was missing some documents. Apparently, we are suppose to send them the original passport (which is not mentioned in their checklist) they will verify the original passport and send it back immediately... well this was just the beginning. Its been almost 66 days since the initial application was filed. The last update on their website says " further scrutinization" on 4/7. I haven't received any update since then. I don't know what they need to scrutinize on a OCI renewal of a 6yr old. This process is so frustrating. In case if you are planning OCI for your child, I urge you to get 10yr visa and once the child turns 20, then they can apply for OCI. Once again.. its all money making racket.

I was planning to visit india in June.. but all bets are gone now.. waiting for stupid OCI
