After a long 9 months wait, I had my AOS marriage based interview yesterday in San Fernando Valley field office.

We were there 15 mins before our appointment time. Got called in hour and half later. ISO made us seat in a specific order and then it all started.
He asked for our identification and then opened our file and started going through it. Asked me (beneficiary) for full name, dob, address etc. Then asked the same to my spouse (petitioner). That was that.

Then asked what joint documents we would like to provide. Gave a stack which included - utility bills (gas, water, mobile, internet, cable), joint tax returns, health and car insurance, bank statements, travel itineraries, photos, etc. He kept punching and filing them all directly into the file he initially opened.
He liked the way we organized the documents and said that it makes his work easy.

Started asking us, how we met, who proposed whom, where was the proposal and then looked at some photos we provided. Had a few good laughs and then he wrapped up saying that he was convinced that ours is a bonafide marriage and that he doesn’t see any issue.

But he said that he needs to do one final security check (or background check - i don’t remember the exact term) and that if everything goes well, we should hear from them within 30 days. He also provided us with a paper, that mentioned the same - with one of the checkboxes checked. Interestingly, this was already printed when we were there.

A little disappointed but don’t want to think too much about why we were not approved on the spot. We were so hoping to have a quick decision. Our lawyer said there is nothing to worry as ours is a very straight forward case and the officer might be slammed and just needs some time.

Will provide an update if anything changes. Good luck to me until then.
