I posted earlier on this forum about a 3 month delay in processing my OCI application in Delhi. I am applying as a spouse of an Indian OCI. It was suggested that I email
[email protected], but I got no response. I also sent an email to
[email protected] but that email address now redirects to
[email protected].
I finally managed to call the New York consulate helpline at 212-774-0635. (This line is active 2-4pm. At other times it redirects to the main consulate switchboard.) I got their voicemail, but I got a prompt call-back. After emailing my particulars to
[email protected], I got an email reply the next day, which stated that my OCI application was awaiting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Moreover the email stated that there is NO TIMELINE for processing spousal OCI applications.
This is contrary to the FAQ at
http://mha1.nic.in/pdfs/oci-faq.pdf:
-------------------------------------------
In the case of application submitted as a spouse of foreign origin
of a citizen of India or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI
Cardholder, the person shall be registered as an OCI Cardholder
only after prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(Foreigners Division) in terms of the proviso to clause (d) of sub-
section (1) of section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 as
incorporated by the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2015 notified
on 10 th March, 2015. In all such cases, it is expected that the
final comments/ clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(Foreigners Division) shall be uploaded on the online system
within 30 days of acknowledgement of the application.

Doing a Google search through the forums here, I found a post from someone on these forums who applied for a spousal OCI card in May 2015 and was still waiting for approval in November 2015 - a delay of at least 6 months.
I would like to ask the forum members here who applied for a spousal OCI card to post about their experiences.
Thanks for any information,
