L1A to H4
Hello

For an L1A to H4 we have been advised two options- 1) File COS with the USCIS while in the US - takes 4/5 months before the L1A I-94 expires OR 2) file a DS-160 and visit the Dept of State in a US Consulate outside the US which is quicker than the COS.

For 2) we are considering any Consulate in Canada but have also heard that while a renewal of visa is easiest in Canada, changing the status from one visa to the other is not recommended- best to go to home country. However, I'd like to ask if anyone had a similar situation and which option is the least risk? Also, how long does it take to get a travel visa to Canada?

Thank you
