H1B, H4 Visa

Hey Guys,

Finally, its my turn to tell you my VISA interview experience at the Chennai Consulate.

My interview was scheduled at 11.00 AM in the morning. I've reached the consulate by 10.45 AM. The usual wait starts ! :) I was allowed into the consulate by 11.45 AM after validating my interview details.

I went inside the main building and waited for my Token Number to turn up on the screen (20 mins wait). I went to the counter, handed over my documents (I797, Passport, I129). I see that almost every one was sent to the second building after the document verification. But, i was asked to stay in the same building and my interview will be taken in the first counter.

I've walked towards the first counter, found a place to sit and again waited for my number to turn up! The VO was an american.. mid 30s and cool.. He called for a token number.. surprisingly, that person DID NOT turn up ! (god knows where he/she is!!!) VO waited for 2 mins.. and called the next number.

My turn came almost immediately.. here is my conversation with him..

Me: Good Afternoon, How are you ?
VO: Great. Thanks. How are you ?

Me: I'm fine ty. (Gave him the documents)
VO: (Looking at the documents, typed something in the computer)

VO: How long have you been working with xyz company ?
Me: Answered

VO: Where were you working earlier ?
Me: Answered yyy.

VO: Put your middle finger on the scanner
Me: Done.

VO: How long were you working for yyy ?
Me: Answered.

VO: Do you work on client engagements ?
Me: Answered.

VO: Okay. Sir, you will get your passport in a week's time.
Me: Thank you. Have a nice day!

VO did not ask for any documents. I know how it feels like when you are in facing the VO. Try to keep cool and answer clearly and precisely.
