Just spoke to my mom . She went for the interview this tuesday and got her passport today only with 10 years multiple entry.
Since I was moving out from central US to Eastcoast , I did not have access to computer and hence could not update you all. Sorry about that. Well , there are couple of things that I would like to state here.
1. I took the entire pressure and checked the various permutations and combinations and issues with the documents with ofcourse all your suggestions, there by making my mom just cool.
2. I went about the process , just 25 days before the appointment . The key is everyday I would ask her one task to do , like I asked her to collect NOC one day from office, next day Leavesanction letter and employment verification.
So thereby instead of overloading and making them feel its a very tedious task and pressurising old people back home , we can work this way.
3. Apart from this , I just prepared 30 questions and answers in native language and sent it across to her and asked her to memorise just 4 days before the interview inorder to stay fresh in mind. I also sent a checklist containing the order in which she needs to carry the documents (visitorand then sponsor). I sent one copy of the checklist to a friend of mine and had them check back in chennai too. Even the DD , I asked my friend to purchase for her , so that she does not make any mistake in stress or pressure.
4. Once everything was set, just three days before the interview , I conducted mock interviews with her and made sure that she dresses up neat and wishes the officer with a smile.
5. My mom had 10.30 a.m appointment , but she went in early around 8.00 a.m. itself and they let her in. On that day she was intelligent to go early becoz there was huge procession in chennai which blocked the entire consulate road for more than 2 hours.
6. Officer himself spoke in native language and not the translator. It was really nice and my mom wished him and smile and answered pretty cool. When they asked my husband's status ,she was about to show the notice of action and I-134 but the officer asked her not to and it was fine.
7. The questions were what was her name, where is my husband, where she was working and who is back in chennai apart from me.
8. that's it she was asked to pay the fees.
KEY IS AT ANY COST NOT TO PRESSURISE THE PEOPLE BACK AT HOME AND MAKING THEM FEEL VISA IS NOT THE ULTIMATE THING IN THE WORLD.But still doing the tasks to get it.
