Visitor visa granted
My parents applied for B2 visa at Mumbai consulate on April 6th. The first time they had applied was 4 years ago. At that time they had got the visa for just 6 months.

What I got to know from them was that while they were waiting outside the consulate in the line one of the Consulate person checked the line and actually took some of the elderly people right away inside. This was a very nice and appreciative effort by the Consulate. Once inside the same person also asked everyone if they want the interview in English/Hindi or any other language.

The folloing questions were asked to my parents to which they gave brief and concise answers.
Why are you going to USA?
Who is there?
When was the last time you went there?
when was the last time you met your son?
Where does he work? (For this my parents answered about my whereabouts and also presented one of my visiting cards to them)
Do you have any other childern?
Where are they?
What do they do?
Who is sponsoring your travel?

At the end they mentioned that you may now leave and your passports will be couriered to you and you should get it within 3 days.

My parents actually got their passports the very next day in the morning by courier and they were stamped for 10 years!!!

It seems there was another elderly couple before them and they were rejected (do not know exactly for what reason) they were repeatedly trying to convince the interviewer that they will be coming back to India and have no intention of staying back there. They were also trying to present papers, but were repeatedly told by the interviewer that there is no point in it and you will not get visa. This scene caused a little bit of worry and uneasyness to my parents.

It looks like if all your papers are in order and filled/signed corectly that are couried to the consulate and during the interview process if you answer all the questions confidently your chances of getting the visa are very high.

Best wishes to immihelp and thank you for providing this place for everyone to share their experiences.
