Indian Passport

Re-Issue of ADULT passport - TATKAL - Washington DC

It took 8 days to receive passport. Sent it out on a Tuesday, received passport next Wednesday.

27th May 2025 - Dropped off package at FedEx
28th May 2025 - FedEx package delivered to VFS
28th May 2025 - Got email from VFS in the afternoon informing that they have received my application
29th May 2025 - Got email from VFS - Application processed at VFS and sent to Embassy.
29th May 2025 - Applictaion status in Embassy website " Application received, under review". But no email form Embassy.
30th May 2025 - Embassy website status "Application processed and Passport print initiated."
30th May 2025 - Embassy website status "Police verification sent to local police station."
31st May 2025 - Embassy website status "Police visited home in India and asked few questions. Verification done."
2nd June 2025 - Embassy website status "Passport printed."
2nd June 2025 - Embassy website status "Passport will be delivered shortly to OSP (VFS office)."
2nd June 2025 - Embassy website status "Passport delivered to OSP."
3rd June 2025 - Later in the evening around 4:45pm, received email from VFS stating that passport will be sent out thru' FedEx. Also received email form FedEx stating that I will be receiving package tomorrow.
4th June 2025 - Received passport Old and New) around noon (Standard Overnight delivery).

Notes:
1. Address in the government application, I gave India address as my main address and US address as secondary address.
2. In the "ANNEXURE ‘E’" and "Affidavit-for-change-in-appearance" forms, you need to give US address only.
3. Photo - I did not use their passport service.
4. Indian Embassy will not send any email but you can check status online in their website.
5. VFS sent emails promptly but I could not check status online in their website. Everytiem I try checking status, it just gave error message. Then I understood I was not alone.
