weird things happen - suspected scam
so... I decided to share an uneasy experience & hope to hear from anyone who has the same experience.

I have a pending marriage based gc adjustment. I had an interview long ago but no decision yet (is been a year) & relocated from one state to another state for job reason. Eventually, I was told by my attorney there might be a home visit & so on due to the move. So, I’m expecting for a next event.

Last month, I received a call (from a mobile phone number) & the person claimed himself as an immigration officer. I was less alert & answered the Q&A in the call. It was like a mini interview (last about 20 mins) asking who I live with, my lease agreement, do I need an access code for my apartment, how is my schedule like. After that he hang up. I called USCIS for verification on the next day, and the representative said it is not an USCIS process to call the applicant without a USCIS notice. My case basically is still stay the same, no one picks up yet, no progress & nothing being scheduled. The representative also told me to file a complaint to the FTC. I did & blocked his phone number.

Exactly a month later, the same person called again but this time to my attorney. He left a voice message & said he would like to schedule an interview with me in the next few weeks. He has few date in hand & left the same mobile phone number for call back. So, my attorney thought it was a real one & she told me to prepare for a second interview. I told her it was the same number who called me last time. She said interesting, & then she decided not to respond him.

I ran thru blocked voice mail list & found a voice message left by him more than a week ago. He did actually called me & left a voice mail saying wanted to chat with me.

Eventually, my husband opinion was it could be a real one. I’m skeptical, uneasy, frighten with the situation. The person sounds so real, I know it is a fraud but dont want to risk my application.

Does anyone here experienced the same thing like this? Your thought is highly appreciated. Thank you.
