  • Do I have to apply US passport if I have US Certificate of Naturalization?

I just become US and I married to my girlfriend at DEC14,2012. I plan to apply for her green card at the end of JAN. But 1-130 form says my US Passport would be required to prove my US citizenship. I haven't apply US passport yet, but I have certificate of naturalization. Can I just give the certificate without applying US passport?
    Thank you
    Sam

    I'ts Either Or

Yes, you can. All you have to do is make a legible copy of your Certificate of Naturalization and send it along with the form I-130 as proof of your US Citizenship. When filing form I-130, providing copies of each page of a US Passport as a proof of citizenship is not mandatory, but it's one of the varied forms of documents you can use to show proof of your US citizenship. I encourage you to read the instructions that accompany the form I-130 for further details.

Hope the above helps. Good luck.
