Hello to all,
I am an American citizen married to a non-American (2 yrs in Nov.) We had decided to live abroad (back where he's from) for many reasons, but unfortunately I had to come back to the states. He is now here with me and would like to stay here (totally unplanned) and adjust his status. My questions are:
I have asked my brother to help co-sponsor him, and he is more than happy to. He makes more than the necessary according the poverty guidelines, but he gets paid hourly plus tips. Without tips it goes down a bit. He says he claims his tips as well...
I am just starting a new job that makes good but a tiny bit away from meeting the criteria. How does the co-sponsoring working? Can we combine our pay, or does at least ONE need to meet the criteria?
Also, when do you have to do the medical examination? I haven't done any paperwork as of yet, so would like to know when I need to get started.
