Applying for Greencard while in US on Visitors visa

Hi Everyone,
I am a US citizen and my mom is on visitors visa
Is it possible to apply for greencard while in Us on visitors visa and how do we go about it ,do we have to wait for certain period before we can do it? my mom came here about 2 months ago and she has 4 more months to go,any help is greatly appreciated.
