  • NEED HELP! Initial Review for the past Two years plus.

    Hello everyone,

I came to us back in Jan 2010. on F1 visa and right when i was about to get married my SEVIS was cancelled when i took a transfer(long story) So i decided to get my status changed and my wife applied for my green card (i-485) through a lawyer. This was back in June 2011 and to this day and we were called for an Interview and the lawyer said we did great but then the case was transferred to California dept.....it still shows Initial Review...

I believe my case in being handled by California side. I am waiting to go back to school and finish my masters but because of this i am unable to do so. Is there anything i can do to get this done already ? I keep filing the E-Request thing on the USCIS official website., I called them last month and they said that they do not know how long it can take...What are my options ? I cannot leave the country or go back to school until i get my green card. Any help please ?

    Thank you.

Did your wife submit an I-130, immigrant petition, at the same time?

If you had another procedure in process, that processing may have bumped your Adjustment to the back burner. I had that happen with an Adjustment I was doing for a Chinese who had a preexisting asylum petition in denial status. Her Adjustment was denied because the asylum immigrant court procedure was not finishd.

I am sorry...she did file i-130 form not 485., And i am in removal proceedings as my sevis was cancelled and i was interacted by ICE...

But the removal proceedings case wants to close my case as soon as they get a reply from USCIS but in vain.

      Thanks for the quick reply.
