I485 and layoff

Need advice!!!

My I-485 was filed in Nov 2004. My I 140 was approved in Jun 2005.
I have my EAD expiring in mid dec 2005. I have already applied for renewal. But it might not come through before expiration. My H1 visa is already expired.

What happens in such case if I don't get my EAD renewed before expiration?
What happens if my company lays me off?
Can I use AC21 to change company after I gets laid off? Say within 7 days I gets employed by another company will it affect my I-485?

What other options do I have?
