    Federal Income Guidelines 2015 I864
I just got married and we are filling up I864. I am US citizen. My wife is the immigrant.
Few questions about Federal Income Guidelines.
I read the instruction, said "you have enough income and or assets to maintain the intending immigrants and the rest of your household at 125 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines."
Key point is, I don't have much income and saving, but my wife have enough saving.
We are currently live in New York.

1.So, what is the minimum annul income I need to make?
I saw this website, 2 household 125% income is $1,9912.

2.Does it mean, each person or, me and my wife total income reach to $1,9912?
    The problem is:
    I travel a lot in 2013 and 2014.
2015 June just back to US started to work.
If just count 2015, I may not reach $1,9912.
But if just count, 2013 or 2014. I am also afraid can't reach $1,9912. per year by myself too.
3.Does saving count into the $1,9912?
    4. or is different calculation and got different amount we need to reach?
    5. I know my wife, got over $20000 saving oversea, does it problem solve.
we can still meet the meet the criteria of I864?

Thank you very much for answering

You are sponsoring her, so they look at your income. She can use self sponsorship if her income and working length (in the USA) qualifies, or if her assets are substantial to meet the requirements. You typically want to really talk with an attorney to see if she is eligible to self sponsor... or if you even want to disclose it. bluntly, no. 20000 in savings is nothing. now if she had 200000 in there, that would work.

They look at your last year's tax filing mainly, that has to be above the 125% poverty limit.

They also look at your current income if there is doubt that you are currently making 125% above (they request income statements/payslips etc). Since you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, expect them to verify your current income. Past income doesn't matter. If you filed for 78999 in 2012 but only for 17000 for the most current tax year (2014), you are out of luck...

If you raise your income before the next tax cut off, you can file for 2015 with the needed amount as long as you can verify it. Looks like you are close so you only need 1-2 months of decent income to get you over this tax season.

      OR

You can get a co sponsor. Easier said than done tho.
