  • I-485 application wait time...wedding ceremony overseas *HELP PLEASE* Can return?

    Hi,

My wife and I got married January 15, 2016 and we completed the I-485 and the travel documents to USCIS. We did our biometrics and her travel documents are approved (Advance Parole?) But we have not received our interview date, we've been in this status since:
As of March 21, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number

It's now August 16, 2016 and still no notice yet and we've been planning our wedding in Indonesia and that's in Oct 15,2016. So question is, if we don't get our interview by then and she leaves out of USA to Indonesia for our wedding, can she return?
I'm her husband and is US citizen. What's the best route to for this situation? Postpone wedding? I don't want her to leave the country then not able to return to USA.

    THANKS any help greatly appreciated!

If you have someone who can constantly check your mail for the interview notice + you are willing to fly back to the USA at a short notice (in case the notice arrives while you are gone), then yes its 'OK' to go and have your wedding. As long as your wife has her advance parole and you both fly back together, you should be ok.

Thanks! Another question, if they schedule us an interview date, will the date be reflected on the USCIS website when we enter the case number (so we won't need the snail mail notification letter)?

Your online case status should tell you when the interview is (once it has been scheduled) but it only gives you a date, not a time or any other details. Usually, it takes 4 to 6 weeks from the time they schedule the interview to the actual interview.

Chances are you will need to bring 797c "Notice of Action" with you in order for the Intake Officer to scan into the system.
