Hi everyone!
I'll try my best to make it short and organized
05/03/2017: Interview date. We got approved on the spot. The IO said the formal approval notice would be mail to us later. We mentioned that our housing lease had ended on 05/01/2017 (2 days before the interview so we're moving to a new place). He told us not to worry and the green card should have arrived in 2 weeks and showed us how to change address online.
- Same day, we was noticed "Your card is ordered" but the case status hadn't changed yet.
05/05: My case status changed to something like "Your I 485 has been approved." I went ahead and changed our address online and request USPS to forward all mails also.
05/06: USCIS Noticed: "Your request had been received and assigned to an officer to review."
05/07: USPS confirmation email for forwarding mails
05/08: My case status changed to "Your card was mailed to you" but no tracking number was provided
05/09: USCIS - Your request to change address has been approved.
05/10: Received UPSP formal address change request kit in the new mailbox saying that our mail forwarding started from 05/05/2017 until 05/05/2018
05/18: I called USCIS to ask for tracking number. A level II officer said it showed on the record the card was mailed to our old address and the tracking number said it's delivered in the mailbox on 05/11 via USPS priority mail.
05/19: Checked the old mailbox and found 2 letters from the USCIS: I-131 and I-485 approval notice. But the priority package for the green card was nowhere to be found.
We've checked with the front desk of our old apartment and some neighbors.
The USPS lady at our old address post office helped me filed a claim. I also filed a missing mail search request online. I went to our new USPS office to ask if there're any forwarding mails but received no help. They just said it's our old post office problem.
I don't know what's the best to do now? Report the lost card to USCIS (they said if I didn't receive the card by June 7, I could follow a link to report it) or continue to harass the USPS until they find my package?
I rather bother the USPS than the USCIS (which I doubt they might have us repay the fee and fingerprint). In that case, who should I contact/call? What claims/requests should I file?
I really appreciate any shared experience dealing with the USPS and this situation!
Or should I just suck it in and file the I-90 as soon as possible? I heard it might take up to 6 months. What happens if my card suddenly appear in the middle?
Thank you all for reading and any advice!
