Finally guys my EAD / AP approved I just got the mail today not status change at all it still says case received. OMG so happy guys life is going to be so much better now

How long did it take for you to get your card?

2 months. My case was accepted on 9/11/17 and EAD got approved 11/17/17. 11/25/17 i got it in mail.

GOT It! Thank u!! So over the years the name changed from INS to DHS... i didnt even know that. So basically, for employement right now my SSN would be fine , because i have the EAD card which is the DHS authorizing me for a year to use it to get employement. So untill i have GC in hand , no need to change the SSN . ** also, id recomend everyone checking their mailbox more than relying on the online statuses...my status is still on "case received" and i got my EAD card in my wallet. So they skipped the "got approved" and "card being produced" " card was mailed"... im not complaining, it was a nice surprise, but just evryone CHECK your mailboxes first **

Just go in with your EAD and change your last name then you will receive a new card anyway.
But yes INS (immigration naturalization services) changed to DHS (department of homeland security) and what you have on your card is for people who dont have a green card yet or are not us citizens like EAD recipients or students. Your SSN will never change but the writing on the card will go away once you update SSN with your green card.

The SSN remains the same, they just remove the restriction verbiage and issue a new card.

Thank you, yes, it took two months from the time they received my package. What do u mean "what does it say, valid for employement or with DHS"? Are you talking about my SSN card or the EAD i just got? The EAD is valid for employement . For a year. It says not valid for re entry to US, because I didnt apply for AP. It has the fingerprint I gave on it and is the same size as drivers licence. My SSN i got as a student in 2001 has "valid for work only with INS authorization". Also, i need a new social security card anyway, because the one i have has still my maiden name on it.

You do need a new SSN card with your current name on it, but it will still say vaild for work only with DHS authorization.

Coz I received first bio metric notice for I 765, Done already, then today I just received another one for I 485

Im not 100% sure but on other posts here i saw, that if ppl got new biometrics letter after they already had their fingerprints taken, it means, your prints were not good or maybe , they need to check you out further...im not sure...look in other forums, you might find others, that got the notice twice...

Just take your card along with your SSN to the DMV and they will extend and issue for the validity of youe EAD usually. Your SSN is valid for life and the only valid with DHS authorization can be removed once you get the green card

I got just one. One notice, took fingerprints just once. Its for both , I believe.

Did you remember what was the form in the letter, was it 765 or 485, because the one i received earlier was 765, then today I received the 2nd one for 485

They issued the 2nd bio notice 3 days after I already done with I 765 BIO METRICS, is that normal, and usually do they send both bio notices together or what> thanks.

Wooohooooo..... checked my mailbox..and GOT MY APPROVAL NOTICE FOR EAD!!! ALONG WITH MY EAD CARD!!!! CRYING& soo grateful! Other than the fact , that i dont like my picture on my card, im soooooo happy!!! Today 75 day!!!! Online status NEVER changed!!! On nov 17th they approved it!!!

NOW I NEED HELP MUSTANG maybe will know...what are my next steps? I have expired DL, will they give me one with this card? I read they should. Also, my SSN is one i got as a student in 2001 and it said, not valid for employement!! So do i get my DL and than go with both cards to apply for new SSN?

Thank u!! I see on your timeline you knew, before you got the mail, that you got approved, i had no idea... so , when i saw the mail and USCIS envelope , I was nervous as to what that was...
Ill update my timeline. No Service requests, just waited.

9/7/17 ** I sent my I 485 I 765
9/11/17 **It got signed for By Chyba in Chicago
9/21/17 **I received 2 Notices of receipts along with Biometrics appoinment letter (3 envelopes total)
10/6/17 **completed biometrics appoinment
10/13/17 **received "notice to applicant" letter informing me , to bring my medical form to my interview or wait for "req. for ev."
10/18/17 **my online status changed from "we accepted your fingerprint fee" to "we are ready to schedule your case for an interview, we will send you a letter with interview date"
11/17/17 ** got approved for employment authorization
11/25/17 ** received approval notice and EAD card in the mail. ( my I 765 status online never updated , it is still on “case received”)
