On the letter about our interview it says "you do not need to bring your children" does this mean DONT bring them or "we don't have to bring them if we don't want to?" I've seen many posts that people take them. Our son just turned 1 year old. We are going to have to get a hotel the night before because it is a 3 hour drive and our interview is in the morning.

You can bring the child but only if you have no other options. A one year old Kid can be quite disruptive to what is an already stressful situation.Originally posted by flygirl View PostOn the letter about our interview it says "you do not need to bring your children" does this mean DONT bring them or "we don't have to bring them if we don't want to?" Kids are best evidence of a bonafide marriage. I would advice you take your kid with you. I have 4-month-old with my wife whom we will take with us to our interview. I also think there could be a psychological influence on the part of an IO. And could also mitigate the likelihood of couple being separated.Originally posted by flygirl View PostOn the letter about our interview it says "you do not need to bring your children" does this mean DONT bring them or "we don't have to bring them if we don't want to?" While I think Kids should be evidence of bonafide marriage, the USCIS takes a different view. Its just shows you had sex period. There are millions of kids in this country whose parents dont have any relationship besides have had a kid together.Originally posted by aquila View PostKids are best evidence of a bonafide marriage. Having sex with some1 shows there were relations!!!! They both decided not to get abortions, had a baby and got married!!! Even came to the interview as a couple with a child!!!! HUGE DIFFERENCE than just having sex with some1!! Every normal human being who decides to go ahead with a pregnancy acknowledges the fact, he will be attached to that person for life!!! And showing up to interview further more proves, hes by his spouses side!!Originally posted by azblk View PostWhile I think Kids should be evidence of bonafide marriage, the USCIS takes a different view. The essence of an USCIS interview is to prove a bonafide marriage with evidence, some of which could be forged or obtained for this purpose. You cannot forge a child. The parents of "millions of kids" in this country don't have to go to an USCIS interview, there's a big difference.Originally posted by azblk View PostWhile I think Kids should be evidence of bonafide marriage, the USCIS takes a different view. PS: Why do you think some cases of people who are not eligible to adjust status are discretionarily handled with lenience because they have an American-born child?Last edited by aquila; 11-01-2017, 01:52 PM.

The point I am making is that the government does not care whether you have a child or not and does not give the child any extra weight as bonafide evidence of marriage.Originally posted by aquila View PostThe essence of an USCIS interview is to prove a bonafide marriage with evidence, some of which could be forged or obtained for this purpose. Treating parents of USC who otherwise can not adjust status discretionary is just the right and smart thing to do until Trump became president - now they are getting deported like everyone else if ICE get their hands on them. There are also several other classes of people treated with the same discrection or even better sans USC children.
