Apparently. I went through the trouble to get it and I wasn't given the chance to change my last name. Oh well

Only 6 months? Wow, I was expecting around 8 to 10 months.

I'm Italian and getting married at the end of May and file all the documents soon after. Does the speed of process depend on some specific factors? Or just luck? I live in Dayton, OH

Congrats with receiving your GC!!! What do you mean by you were not given a chance to change your last name?
I have filed for AOS and have received EAD/AP card last Friday with my maiden name (all forms are with my maiden name). I wanted to go ahead and change my last name -- is this possible during the GC process?

What I heard is that during the interview if the officer is going to approve the case, he/she asks or may ask if the beneficiary wants to change their last name on the GC. In my case, since the interviewing officer did not seem to approve the case but the second officer after the interview who viewed my case did, the interviewing officer did not ask me that question. SO my GC came with my maiden name.

Thank you for your answer! I think I will ask them myself during interview then! My drivers license expires in early February and I thought I will do a new name.... But now I think I should change it on my Green card first. Do you think the best thing is to wait for interview, go there and ask for change, then go update social security, and then update name on drivers license?

I think so but that is just my opinion. I am in no rush to change my name but once I find an opportunity, then I will. The reason why I do not want to do it right now after I got my GC is because I fear that it will mess something up. When the time comes for me to remove the conditions on my GC, then I will change my last name.

I see what you mean! I think, they also require another form with another fee to change the name on the green card, which is $700.00
