Since the letter only says that the recipient MAY be eligible under certain categories once the process for the new EAD has started, they have to verify with USCIS. I went to the DPS on galveston road and the lady scanned that letter, my EAD and the expiring license. She gave me a paper with a number and email of an Austin office.

It takes around 5 days to get it done and in my case, the person who told me it was already verified just said to go back and get the new license, that it should be good to go in the system. Be sure to ask if you need a letter stating that, because when I went back to the office the lady I got went all mad at me saying I needed one, but ended granting me the license in the end. You have to show her the same documents you did on the first visit.

Fun fact: the system says the license is granted for a period of 6 months, but mine was granted for the full year.

Do Medical as soon as possible! it would take about a week (Mo-Fr).
On our interview we were asked for all originals and than for Medical and after that IO start asking questions.
I've heard in Houston it could cost from $150 to $300, some even managed to put some cost of it on Med.Insurance as annual exam.

I didn't download their app, but i've heard the app updates faster.

                Avantially I downloaded an app.
I use Case Tracker, available for both IOS and Android.
It didn't ask anything but your case number, and I had updates on it before the official USCIS websites.

I would bring the medical to the field office on your 2nd year anniversary.
Does this actually work to get the full 10 year card?

That might work. However, the date of the validity of a 2 or 10 year GC begins on the date of the interview or when it was approved. It boils down to the leniency of the officer and the burden of proof. However, I would give it a try, submitting the I693 a bit later to coincide with your 2 yr marriage might give you the 10 yr. Either ways you have nothing to lose. Try it.

                    All the best.

Got an e-mail after series of phone calls to USCIS.
USCIS has reviewed your Service Request and determined that your application is currently in the pre-processing stage. After the pre-processing stage is complete, your file will be scheduled for an interview. No further action is required from you at this time. • You'd think they'd be past that. Geez even when you try and do it the "legal" way like they ask they make it into a cluster***.

I filed an i-130 for another relative Jan 2018 and it was approved Aug 2018 yet our AOS has been pending since Feb 2017....ridiculous!

You will get the 10 year card IF you have been married for 2 years or longer on the date that your case is adjudicated. That may or may not coincide with the date of your interview.
