  • Date of birth correction on passport

    Hi All,
My date of birth on passport (and all other records) doesnt match with the one on birth certificate (birth certificate has the correct date of birth). Currently I am in US on L1 visa and going to apply for green card.
Initially I contacted the Indian Consulate through email and they informed me that they will correct the passport only if I can provide a court order and I read in other forums that this way is time consuming.

Recently I called up the Indian Consulate, they told me that I could get it corrected from India and then fix an appointment at the US consulate to get the visa restamped. In my case, since the change in date of birth is less than 2 years, the procedure to get it corrected from India is pretty simple (just submit passport with the birth certificate and they will issue the new one in a few days time). But I am not sure 1) if the US consulate will refuse to stamp the visa on the new passport or if they ask for any more documents and 2) even if I get it restamped, will there be any problem at the US immigration, once I fly back to US?
Please let me know if anyone knows how to deal with this issue.

    Thank you.

Not the same situation at all... But hubby’s visa is in his expired passport. He has to carry both passports around. Is the birthdate wrong on the visa also?

DOB different in passport and birth certificate

Same situation I have. I applied for my mother's Green Card, DOB is different in passport and birth certificate. Let me know if you found any solution.
