  • File I-131 seperately

    Hi everyone,

This forum has been very helpful for my journey and I'd love to hear some feedback about my situation.

I filed concurrently I-130, I-485, i-864, and i-765 to Chicago lockbox and they received it on March 27. I got 3 emails with 3 case numbers on Sunday, 4/8 saying that my cases were received and waiting for the actual NOAs to show up in my mailbox. I don't know why I didn't file I-131 back then but now I want to file I-131. I know I can file it with with a copy of the I-485 receipt. My question is, if I file I -131 now, would it slow down the process to get my EAD card? My current EAD (F1 OPT) expires in June and I'd like to have it by then. Thank you so much for reading!

Not based on this I-485 SOP. https://www.***.com/seminars/august2002_citation2b.pdf I-765 & I-131 get "peeled off" for processing when filed concurrently and are basically put on a different carousel/factory production line. It's the same set of background checks for both. What causes greater delays is having a common name like John Smith or Mary Johnson. Adjudicators will have to resolve every hit manually. So... if you have a middle initial or middle name, use it.
These forms are first handled by contractors and they read off a script. Turn over is high. So it's best to spell it all out. That you already filed X Y Z concurrently. Here is the NOA that proves it. Therefore, no fee is required. or along those lines.

    All the best.

Thanks for replying! One more quick question, does this mean I won't get a combo card?
