Hi everyone. Applied for i485 7 months ago family based. Still waiting for interview. Called uscis today and talked to level 2. He said my case is still at the service center. My question is, should i wait after they transfer it 7 to my local office months more(my office shows 7 to 19,5 mths in charleston sc) or is it total 7 -19.5 months since i applied? Which means the processing time for local office is starting after they transfer it to local office or it starts at the application time ?Thank you in advance.

So let's talk about what the numbers mean first. Your field office takes 7 Months to 25 Months to process Family-based adjustment applications. 7 months is how long it takes to process 50% of cases and 25 months, how long it takes to process 93%. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/more-info
Now, within the cluster of cases that took 7 months. Not ALL took OR are expected to take 7 months. However, that was the longest duration, and that's the number USCIS will report to the public. As you know. all adjustment cases are different, categories are different, but all family based are clumped together there. RFEs play a key role here and you want to avoid them. If you do not have any, you should expect your case to be within the 50% processing time but lower.
To answer your specific question, here's what the website says "This time range is how long it is taking your office to process your case from the date we received it. We generally process cases in the order we receive them, and we will update this page around the 15th of each month. " I read that as "(...) from the date the National Benefits Center received it." What we've observed in this forum for field offices with processing times in single digits, 6 months or less, is that the whole process - from Priority Date to approval/green card in hand- takes less than the estimated processing time.
I hope that helps. All the best.
